Michael Shellenberger on Homelessness in California

In 2022, California was home to 1 in 3 homeless individuals in America. On any given night, over 160,000 Californians are homeless, and a vast majority of them are unsheltered - meaning, they sleep on the street, in public parks, under bridges, etc. Some consider this humanitarian crisis as the consequence of capitalism and a lack of affordable housing. Michael Shellenberger disagreed.

Michael Shellenberger is the author of San Fran Sicko - Why Progressives Ruin Cities. He argues that the homelessness crisis is caused by drug addiction, mental health crisis, and rampant crime, all of which are induced and exacerbated by progressive policies in the Golden State.
